Sähköpostitiedusteluihin vastaaminen: Tehtävä 1

"Hallo. My name is Fritz Von Schloss Ahrensburg und I write to you from Titisee, Schwarzwald. My plan is to travel to Finland next summer. I await that journey a lot. I would appreciate a lot your help in the next issue.  My hobby is to examine old ships. I would very much enjoy doing that also while travelling in Finland. Would you be so kind and give me some hints of nice old ships which would situate on my route. My plan is to travel along the Finnish coast line from Hamina to Vaasa. I would also be very happy if you could also write a short description of the ships."

Dear Mr. Von Schloss Ahrensburg

Thank you for choosing our incoming services. There are multiple nice old ships in your route which I listed below with cities and little information about it.

Hamina
M/S Merikarhu
In Hamina you can explore the former harbour ice breaker and tug Merikarhu. History of the ship goes back to 1943 when it was named Tug ST-79. After completion of the ship it was used as a minesweeper in USA. The main reason it was made was because of the Battle of Normandy. The city of Hamina bought it on 1951. A year later it arrived and was named Merikarhu. After that there was a serious close call situation on the sea and it was refined.

This former freighter and sand yawl was built in Porvoo between 1947-1949. It worked mainly in The Baltic Sea and The Gulf of Finland. The sailing ship was sold to the current owner in 1975.

Helsinki
M/S Nikolai II
The ship was made in 1903 in Helsinki and it was used for exploration of the sea and fishes more than 30 years. It was owned by Finnish Institute of Marine Research but nowdays it is in private use.

Location: Kauppatori

Turku
M/S Borea (http://www.msborea.fi/english/www/)
This ship was built not so long ago - 1960, but it has a place in the heart of people living in Turku. It was a cruise ship back then, the route was from Turku to Åland and Sweden. Nowdays you can dine, sleep, arrange meetings and visit the museum in it.

S/S Vetäjä V (http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/S/S_Vet%C3%A4j%C3%A4_V)
This old steam tug was completed in 1891 in Varkaus. It was the last steam tug in use, and still is eventhough the steam pipe was shortend.

Uusikaupunki
S/V Joanna Saturna (www.joannasaturna.com)
This ship was completed in Holland. It was made for herring fish and that's why it was called "The Herring Drifter". Later it was used for transporting sand. First captain on board was Leendert Hoogendijk. Still in use.
